Dr. Henry Cuellar Elementary School
We are pleased to offer a Robotics Club at Dr. Henry Cuellar Elementary. The purpose of the club is to offer students an opportunity to have fun and learn some very basic programming using Dash Wonder robotics kits. During club meetings, the students will master various Wonder programming software to accomplish tasks and solve challenges. Problem-solving and logical thinking skills will be emphasized. Students will be exploring individually or in small groups, and demonstrate their achievement in a Robotics Expo at the end of the year.
The club will meet after school from 3:00-4:30 pm, twice a month at most. Parents are required to pick up their child promptly at 4:30 pm. Failure to comply will result in student removal from the club.
Dash Robotics Club Guidelines:
Students must be able to stay focused. We have a lot to do in a short amount of time, and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Eligible students in grades 3rd-5th must complete the application form and submit by the deadline.
Permission forms must be printed and signed by the parent.
Student’s must be committed and attendance will be monitored. Excessive absences (3+) will result in student removal from the club.
In the event of a high volume of students wanting to be part of this team and the limited number of spaces (20 maximum), there will be an interview/tryout session for all students who have completely submitted required forms.
Any student who fails to complete regular instructional day assignments, or behaves inappropriately will be placed on probation, and possibly removed from the club, should they not improve.
Academic tutorials take priority.
The Robotics Club will first meet on Wednesday, September 11 from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm and signed permission forms should be turned in to the library by this date and time.
